Audit export and exit options
Know what can be exported, in which format, and what must be rebuilt before the tool becomes essential.
Test the exit while the pilot is still small. Export data, instructions, configurations, logs, and ownership records, then confirm another person can understand them without the original tool.
Working sequence
Make the evidence visible.
- 01
List the assets
Inventory source data, generated data, prompts, workflows, permissions, and audit history.
- 02
Test the export
Download a sample and confirm the format is complete, readable, and reusable.
- 03
Measure rebuild work
Identify vendor-specific logic and estimate the effort to reproduce it.
- 04
Assign the archive
Name the owner, location, cadence, and retention rule for portable records.
Evidence to keep
Leave with four records.
- Successful sample export
- Readable format
- Rebuild estimate
- Archive owner
Portability is a tested behavior, not a checkbox in a procurement sheet.
